For Immediate Release
Oct. 10, 2006
RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College volleyball squad battled Denison University Tuesday night, but came up short as the Quakers fell 30-21, 30-27, 30-28 on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
The North Coast Athletic Conference contest was tight throughout the match. “The last two games could have gone either way,” Earlham Head Coach Natalie Alred said. “They gave everything they had and we had some of the longest rallies that I’ve seen since I’ve been here.”
Junior Lisa Vanderkolk (Bluffton, IN/Bluffton) led the Quakers with 18 kills, while junior Jessica Whitaker (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) added 12. First-year Keeley McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, OR/Grant) had 11 kills and junior Sara Prince (Dresden, OH/Tri-Valley) had nine.
Senior Ashley Govro (Greensburg, IN/North Decatur) and junior Amanda Prewitt (Greenwood, IN/Greenwood) had 25 assists each. Whitaker led the Quakers with 22 digs, while sophomore Kathryn Evans (Milton, IN/Muncie Burris) had 21.
Earlham (11-9, 3-6) is at Kenyon College on Friday. The NCAC contest starts at 7 p.m.
