Trip Ends with NCAC Victory at Allegheny

MEADVILLE, Pa.  — The Earlham College volleyball team had four players reach double digits in kills Saturday as the Quakers beat Allegheny College 31-33, 30-25, 30-23, 30-28 in a North Coast Athletic Conference contest.

Sophomore Keeley McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, OR/Grant) led the way for the Quakers with a career-high 23 kills. “Keeley stepped up and played really well,” Earlham Head Coach Natalie Alred said.

Senior Lisa Vanderkolk (Bluffton, IN/Bluffton) finished with 16 kills. Senior Sara Prince (Dresden, OH/Tri-Valley) had 14 kills with classmate Jessica Whitaker (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina) ending the match with 12 kills.

Whitaker and Vanderkolk are both over 1,000 kills in their career. Whitaker is third in school history with 1,164, while Vanderkolk is fifth all-time at 1,024. 

Defensively, Earlham broke the team match record for blocks in the rally scoring format for the second time this week with 22 stuffs. McAnnis-Entenman led the Quakers with six blocks. The Quakers had 20 blocks against Denison on Tuesday.

Senior Amanda Prewitt (Greenwood, IN/Greenwood) led the Quakers with 44 assists, while senior Kaitlin Gentry (Kent, OH/Roosevelt) leading the way with 27 digs.

Earlham (11-14, 5-7) is now is fourth place in the NCAC standings a half game ahead of Denison (10-12, 4-7) and Ohio Wesleyan University (11-14, 4-7). The top four teams advance to the NCAC Tournament. “We have really improved our chances of getting in the tournament,” Alred said.

The Quakers visit Wittenberg University on Wednesday. The NCAC contest gets underway at 7 p.m. Box score.
