Team Awards Announced

RICHMOND, Ind. — Senior Lisa Vanderkolk was named the Most Valuable Player and the Hitter of the Year for the Earlham College women’s volleyball team on Tuesday.

After being selected as an All-North Coast Athletic Conference First Team choice, Vanderkolk (Bluffton, IN/Bluffton) became the second volleyball player in Earlham history to receive post-season recognition from the NCAC three times in her career. She earned second-team honors in 2006 and received honorable mention in 2003. Earlham Athletics Hall of Fame 2002 inductee Jodie Bauman (1988-91) was a first-team choice from 1989 to 1991. Vanderkolk was also named to the NCAC All-Tournament Team this season.

The other team awards announced by Earlham Head Coach Natalie Alred were:
• Offensive Player of the Year: Senior Jessica Whitaker (Indianapolis, IN/Scecina).
• Defensive Player of the Year: Senior Kaitlin Gentry (Kent, OH/Roosevelt).
• Setter of the Year: Senior Amanda Prewitt (Greenwood, IN/Greenwood).
• Light Up the Court: Prewitt.
• Blocker of the Year: Sophomore Keeley McAnnis-Entenman (Portland, OR/Grant).
• Pass the Torch: McAnnis-Entenman.
• Passer of the Year: Senior Kari Schneider (Cincinnati, OH/Mt. Notre Dame).
• Co-Most Improved: First-year Kelsey Tackett (Frankfort, KY/Frankfort).
• Co-Most Improved: First-year Ramona Hemmings (Cleveland, OH/E. Cleveland Hgts).
• Newcomer of the Year: First-year Alicia Kees Alicia Keys (Morrow, OH/Morrow).
• Mental Attitude Award: Senior Sara Prince (Dresden, OH/Tri-Valley).
