These Are a Few of My Favorite Things

This last week was of course mostly midsem break. It was a wonderful respite from doing lots of work. I spent most of it with friends which is always good. Wednesday I finished up classes and spent some time with house members who were headed home for the long weekend. Wednesday night Dance Team performed and watched the basketball game. I haven't been to a basketball game in a while; they're actually really fun to watch, which I'd forgotten. The Earlham ladies really brought it and I definitely enjoyed the game.

Thursday I spent most of with Comedy watching D. Gray-man, we've just reached the Arc arc which is proving to be enjoyable, we of course watch it in the silliest of fashions with lots of commentary. Thursday evening our kitchen was occupied with chocolatiers concocting confections. The rest of us watched Prince of Egypt which has really wonderful music. I'd never seen it before and I had a lovely time watching it and partaking of the chocolate.

Friday I worked on job applications during the day, and spent the evening hanging out with Gwen which was a lot of fun, particularly when we're mimicking Isaac and Miria (we can totally do their voices and it's hilariously awesome). I introduced Yorik, Gwen and Chen to No. 6 and possibly got all of them hooked, all according to my evil plan to convince friends to watch shows I like talking about. Then I hung out with Otter and Minstrel and discussed Last Exile for a while. Minstrel and I very much enjoy discussing word building and could probably talk about the structure of technology and its geopolitical ramifications in that show for hours. Actually we did. He left around 1:30 since it was late, but Yorik and I wound up talking until approximately 2:30 am which is indicative of being on break, and having really intricate discussions of plot for sci-fi novels. Of course I have to finish what I'm writing now before doing anything else. I did get a bit of time to continue writing for fun. I'm now on page 40 of "the novel," which is something at least.

Saturday was another Dance Team performance and all the homework. Shiny's mother brought cake as it's Shiny's birthday in the next week. I got mostly everything done though, which was good because Saturday night the we had a housemate-girls-night replete with ice cream sodas and girly movies.

Sunday I did more homework, had dance practice and watched The Sound of Music which is just as wonderful a film as I remembered. I love The Sound of Music to itty bitty pieces. It's beautiful, the scenery is beautiful, the characters are beautiful, the costumes are beautiful, the music is of course beautiful. I haven't quite succeeded in becoming Maria von Trapp as I've grown up, but rewatching the film it's not a bad life goal, even though I have rather shifted perspectives since I was 6. I sing enough, so I figure it counts.
