The Richmond Faith Community Dinner is an opportunity for students to meet and have fellowship with pastors and representatives of local churches and congregations. Many faith communities in the Richmond area welcome Earlham students to worship with them. This event, open to all students but particularly geared for those who are new to Earlham and Richmond, takes place during the first week of the fall semester.
A Religious Life Retreat is held off campus early in the fall semester, to support student leaders of the religious life groups at Earlham. Themes of past retreats have included religious leadership, interfaith dialogue, prayer and storytelling.
Faith and Value Lunches is a series of lunch discussions, which provide a forum for faculty and staff to speak about an aspect of their religious faith or a deeply held value that informs their lives. Each year we select speakers from among our faculty and staff that reflect the religious diversity of our campus. They are open to Earlham students, faculty, staff, and members of the Richmond community. Lunch is provided free of charge to those who make advance reservations.
Religious Emphasis Week is held in the spring semester, with different campus groups planning a variety of programs.
Workcamps are held on some weekends and over spring break, combining travel, service worship, and reflection on the call to serve with and among others.
Special gatherings and commemorations throughout the year may include: Rosh Hashanah; Yom Kippur; Sukkoth; Advent Devotions; Hanukkah; Candle light Service of Carols and the Christmas Story; the Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.; Tu B'Shevat Seder; Eid al-Fitr; Ash Wednesday Service; Lenten Devotions; Rape Awareness Week Service on Brokenness, Healing, and Hope; Naw-Ruz; Eid al-Adha; Ridvan; Passover Seder; Good Friday Way of the Cross Service; Easter Sunrise Service, Yom Hashoah Service.
