Religious Organizations

For information regarding meeting times and locations, see the Campus Ministries Calendar of Events, or the Earlham College Calendar for special events and this week's schedule.

These groups are open to the campus community, and at any time of the year new or potential members (and curious visitors) are welcome!

  • The Baha'i Club seeks to abide by Baha'i principles, offering nurture to Baha'is and sponsoring public opportunities for learning about the Baha'i faith.

  • College Meeting Cabinet oversees the weekly College Meeting for Worship, selecting speakers and helping organize each service. Cabinet meets weekly - usually with the upcoming week's speaker - for prayer, fellowship, and planning worship.

  • Council on Religion at Earlham (CORE) brings together people of different religious background to encourage and support students in developing their beliefs about faith and life. CORE sponsors diverse religious programs, including opportunities for interfaith sharing and Religious Emphasis Week.

  • Earlham Christian Fellowship (ECF) meets together for fellowship, prayer, worship, support and growth in the pursuit of faith in Jesus. An interdenominational group. ECF helps members examine their lives and engage the campus with the message of Jesus Christ. They are thereby challenged to grow in discipleship, compassion for people, stewardship, personal integrity and concern for justice in society. In addition to group meetings on Friday evenings there are bible studies throughout the week, as well as outings, concerts and other special events.

  • Earlham Muslim Student Association provides support for the practice of Islam, offering opportunities to come together for prayer, visits to areas mosques, and observance of holy days and Ramadan. The group hopes to make connections with Muslims at area universities, dedicate a room on campus for prayer, and provide education for non-practicing Muslims and others interested in Islam.

  • Earlham Young Friends (EYF) meet for fellowship, reflection, fun worship sharing, and seek to provide a supportive environment affirming both Quakers and fellow travelers in learning, growing, and developing a deeper understanding of Quaker faith and practice. EYF supports service at Earlham, in the greater community of Richmond, and beyond.

    Meeting Time and Place: Wednesday 8:00 p.m. at Virginia Cottage

  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) strives to present to athletes and coaches, and all those they influence, the challenge and adventure of receiving Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, serving him in their relationships and in the fellowship of the church. they also provide service to the community. FCA meets weekly for fellowship and inspiration.

    Meeting Time and Place: Thursday 9:00 p.m. at Athletics and Wellness Center

  • Gospel Revelations Choir (Rev's) is open without audition to all students who like to sing music from the African-American gospel tradition. They perform on campus and travel to do outreach programs for churches and other local groups. The weekly rehearsals include sharing of joys and concerns and prayer.

  • Habitat for Humanity: Earlham Campus Chapter is affiliated with the international Christian organization dedicated to creating decent and affordable housing for everyone. The campus group assists the Richmond chapter in building and renovation projects.

  • Interfaith House (Fry House) located at 525 SW G Street, brings together students of different religions to grow in their own faith and observance and to promote knowledge, understanding, and cooperation among people of diverse spiritual perspectives.

  • Jewish Cultural Center (JCC), Beit Kehillah, is located at 306 College Avenue. The residents of JCC sponsor weekly Shabbat dinners, maintain a library of resources on Jewish life and faith, and provide special events on holidays and other occasions.

  • Jewish Students Union (JSU) supports Jewish students in the expression of their Jewish identity. It is also an opportunity for non-Jews to enhance their understanding of the Jewish world. JSU sponsors speakers and events, provides for the observance of Shabbat and holidays, and encourages dialogue over contemporary Jewish issues.

  • Liberation Bible Study

  • Quaker House (Marshall House) at 302 College Avenue, provides an environment for Quaker students and students interested in Quakerism. The house provides an atmosphere and a space where residents explore what Quakerism means to students, community members and others. House sponsored events to make the Quaker presence on campus more visible include workshops, worship and fellowship.

  • Questing Catholics nurtures the faith of Catholic students, exploring the meaning of Roman Catholicism for today's people. Responding to the needs and interests of Earlham Catholics, activities include attending Mass locally and sponsoring dinners, discussions, and Mass on campus.

  • Unitarian Universalist (UU) students meet weekly for worship and discussion, and sponsor travel to UU events off campus. They welcome UU's and others interested in a liberal religious perspective.
