Worship and Celebration Opportunities on Campus

Stout Pews

  • College Meeting for Worship is held Sundays at 11:00 AM in Stout Meeting House for people to worship God and explore Christian faith from diverse viewpoints. Like a programmed Quaker meeting, it includes faculty, senior students, and visitors.
  • Shabbat Dinner is held Fridays at 6:30 PM at Beit Kehillah, the Jewish Cultural Center at 306 College Avenue, to welcome the Sabbath through sharing in the ritual blessings and the meal. Attenders need to reserve a place by calling Ext. 2990 by Thursday, and to bring a vegetarian dish for the potluck dinner.
  • Ichthys House Worship is held every night of the year from 9:30 PM till 10:00 PM at 2:15 College Avenue (across from the ESR Community Building). Following open worship and sharing is an informal time of visiting and refreshments of those who want to stay. The House also provides Days of Silence and Solitude, special meals, and open houses, and serves as a meeting place for small groups, and a home-away-from-home and drop-in-center.
  • Taizé Worship incorporates readings, prayers, and the meditative songs of the ecumenical Taizé community in southern France. It is led by students from Earlham College, Earlham School of Religion, and Bethany Theological Seminary. Worship is held every Thursday, at 4:00 PM in Virginia Cottage.
