Aaron Cooney '12
Girls Inc. of Wayne County
Aaron opens the doors to Girls Inc. at 6:45 each morning. As the girls arrive, he serves them breakfast and chats. In the afternoons, Aaron serves lunch, runs errands and takes the girls horseback riding.
After three semesters doing work-study at Girls Inc. of Wayne County, Aaron Cooney '12 completed a summer internship at the organization.
Aaron says he draws on his background in psychology to better understand the girls, who range in age from six to 15. It also gives him more perspective on his influence.
“A lot of the girls at the center don’t have positive male role models in their lives,” he says. “I take pride in being that for them.”
