On-campus living in Earlham College’s residence halls and houses has all you’ll ever need in a college experience. In many ways, college is a new beginning — a chance to meet new people, build relationships, and re-define yourself as a person. The average college student spends twice as much time in their residence hall as they will in the classroom — and so choosing the right community to live in is an important decision.
When it comes to preparing to live on-campus, we have three important steps for you to complete:
Step 1: Sign-up for on-campus housing.
Because of the positive impact an on-campus residential environment has on the learning process and the College curriculum, Earlham College requires all undergraduate students to live on-campus. We are a residential college. In preparing for joining the Earlham College community, visit the Housing Questionnaire.
Earlham College does allow, for specific reasons, students to be exempt from the on-campus residency requirement. To learn more, download the Residence Life Housing Exemption Form.
Step 2: Learn more about on-campus living expectations
Once you’ve sign-up for your on-campus housing, it is important to know the expectations of your community. We encourage you to visit and review these important documents below before you arrive to campus. They will be a helpful guide to our group’s expectations of each other as we learn and grow as a community.
Step 3: Prepare for your arrival.
The countdown to your arrival on-campus has begun! All new students to Earlham College can begin moving in on Friday, August 21. In between now and then, you need to figure out what you are going to bring with you on-campus and arrange travel from your home to Earlham College. Download "What to Bring" checklist for detailed information on how and what to prepare. If you have more questions than are answer here, please reach out to the Office of Residence Life for help!
