May Term Registration and Fee Policies

Note: The most current fees are available at the Registrar's Office Web site.

The following enrollment policies pertain to May Term:

  • Every student enrolled in a May Term course is charged a non-refundable May Term enrollment fee; students enrolled in off-campus programs also are charged a fee.

  • If a student is enrolled for 18 or fewer hours during the Spring Semester, including May Term hours, there is no additional tuition charge.

  • If a student registers for more than 18 hours for Spring Semester and May Term courses combined, a May Term tuition fee is charged to the student's account.

  • A student who enrolls in a May Term course after the close of Spring Registration is charged a specific fee regardless of the number of Spring Term credits for which he or she has registered. No exemptions are granted.

  • May Term students are charged a weekly fee to live on campus. Students are responsible for their own meals. The College Coffee Shop is open.

  • Off-campus May Term courses require additional costs, such as room, board, transportation and other fees. Students should inquire about these costs before registering with the International Programs Office.

  • Independent studies, audits, the Credit/No Credit option and variable credit are not permitted during May Term. Credit is awarded only as indicated on the course schedule.

  • Earlham-funded financial aid, state student aid and federal grant assistance is not available for May Term. Some students may be eligible for federal student loans.
