Academic Support Services

Academic Enrichment Center

The Academic Enrichment Center (AEC) programmatically aids students with their learning through peer-to-peer tutoring. Peer tutors integrate study strategies into their tutoring sessions to encourage students to become more effective independent learners. Peer tutors are available for one-on-one tutoring sessions and for pre-arranged groups sessions. Peer tutoring is a free service for Earlham College students.

Students who want to discover their learning style and working habits or who want to explore why they are experiencing some learning challenges may make an appointment with the AEC director. The director also assists students with study skills and time management.

The Academic Enrichment Center is the College's disabilities services office for students. AEC manages the documentation of disabilities and the processing of accommodation requests.

Writing Center

The Writing Center located in Lilly Library helps students of all levels of experience improve their writing across the curriculum, not just for a particular paper. Peer writing consultants are available Sunday through Thursday evenings to work with students at any stage of the writing process, from brainstorming and refining a thesis to organizing and editing a final draft. Students can drop in or sign up for an appointment on the Writing Center Web site, where writing tips and links to online writing resources are also available. Visit the Writing Center Web site.
