Student Services

Counseling and Health Services

Counseling Services is located on the first floor of Earlham Hall. Students can make appointments online at www.earlham.edu/~sas/counseling. Mental health professionals are available to provide short-term, solution-focused counseling and crisis intervention free to all undergraduate students. Counselors can help with referrals to community mental health providers when students have more long-term or intensive therapy needs. Counseling Services provides consultation, education and outreach to the entire campus community.

Earlham Health Services (EHS), also located on the first floor of Earlham Hall, provides nursing care for acute illnesses and minor injuries. Nurses staff the walk-in clinic (no appointment needed) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. A physician is available by appointment for one hour a day, four days a week. A nurse practitioner provides gynecologic services (by appointment only) at EHS. The clinic dates are published in Around the Heart, the official campus newsletter. In cases of serious illness, students are referred to Reid Hospital and Health Care Services in Richmond or to another health care provider. ESH does not handle or process insurance claims.

Both the Counseling Services and the Earlham Health Services offices emphasize wellness through preventive care and educational programs. Recent campus programs provided informative sessions on alcohol, AIDS, safer sex, stress management and sexual assault.
