Semester Schedule

Fall Semester

Students are placed in INTD 201 Intermediate Academic Writing or INTD 202 Advanced Academic Writing according to the results of a writing sample taken during the orientation period. Students taking INTD 201 Intermediate Academic Writing are required to take INTD 203 Perspectives on American Life. All TSA students are required to take INTD 200 Contemporary Global Issues.

Each student completes additional coursework to total a minimum of 12 credits, choosing courses from across the curriculum. Students are advised about courses appropriate for their interests and English ability. Non-academic courses, such as physical education or music, also are available for credit.

Spring Semester

In the Spring Semester, two TSA courses are offered: INTD 204 The American Experience and INTD 205 Seminar on Social Trends. Students have the option of taking a language placement test prior to registering for Spring Semester courses. Depending on the outcome of the placement test, students may be required to take one or both TSA courses.

As required for Fall Semester, each student completes additional coursework from the Earlham curriculum to total a minimum of 12 credits. May Term, a three-week academic intensive term, provides additional course options. The total course load for Spring Semester and May Term combined may not exceed 18 credits.
