The Earlham Guide to Richmond grew out of a desire to highlight all of the treasures and resources found around Earlham College in the Richmond and Wayne County community. Our online guide makes these treasures only a click away.
Richmond is a wonderful city in which to live, work and study. It has a rich history — from its earliest records of Native American habitation, to its formal settlement by Quaker families in the early 1800s; from its importance in metalworking and woodworking in the early 1900s to its contributions to jazz music. This history has led Richmond to evolve into the thriving Midwestern city we know today.
Today, the Richmond/Wayne County area offers an abundant selection of restaurants, shops, churches and services; many recreational parks and activities; outstanding fine arts, which include a symphony, art gallery and civic theatre; and many volunteer opportunities.
We here at Earlham hope that you find this online version of the Earlham Guide to Richmond helpful and enlightening. However, reading about the area is nothing compared to actually experiencing all that Richmond and Wayne County have to offer.
