Voice of the Shuttle. Most comprehensive directory of web resource on the humanities (and literature in particular) on the web. Click on “literature” and find links to a huge array of webpages, including various sites for specific literary periods and authors and works as subcategories within periods.

Literary Resources on the Net. Another excellent web directory of literary resources, divided up into periods. Less overwhelming than the Voice of the Shutle.

Oxford Reference Online (access limited to Earlham students and employees). Contains the complete texts of over 100 Oxford University Press dictionaries and reference titles; this link brings you directly to literature reference sources.

A Celebration of Women Writers. Links to women authors in all fields from the 14th century to the present. Information varies from author to author, but many include biographies, bibliographies, criticism, portraits, and online versions of their works.

Emory Women Writers Resource Project. Texts by women writing in English from the 17th century through the 19th century. The Project is a pedagogical tool, designed to offer students in various disciplines the opportunity to edit their own texts.

Black Cultural Studies Web Site. Directory of information and links on ethnicity, race, gender, and the African diaspora, with bibliographical information, essays, and interviews on cultural workers working in such areas as Black literary criticism, Black popular culture, Critical Race Theory and film theory, etc.

Storytellers: Native American Authors Online. Links to resources on contemporary Native American authors.

The Association for the Study of Literature and Environment. Professional organization site, with great resources and links on all general aspects of literature of environment and much on environmental studies.

English Online Resources. A library of complete works from the University of Virginia Electronic Text Center. The Modern English Collection includes some 2000 titles subdivided into areas such as "African American," "Native American," and "Women Writers." The Middle English Collection includes 40 titles.

Internet Public Library. Links to more than 2500 critical and biographical web sites about US and British literary works from pre-1500 to the present. Each links is required to contain criticism either previously published in a scholarly journal or written by faculty or advanced graduate students.

Bartleby Verse: American & English Poetry 1250–1920. Poetry searchable by keyword or browsable by author, title, or first line.

Oxford English Dictionary (access limited to Earlham students and employees). Current, online version of famous dictionary.
