About the Program

Approaches

All environmental majors take some common courses and have other opportunities for interaction with others whose primary interests involve the environment. Finally, students majoring in any discipline may choose to earn a Minor in Environmental Studies, taking courses that incorporate the Natural Sciences, the Social Sciences and the Humanities.

Students interested in the Natural Sciences

  • pursue a disciplinary major in Biology, Chemistry or Geosciences with a focus in Environmental Science.
  • become familiar with environmental perspectives in the Social Sciences and Humanities, and
  • participate in environmental internships and/or off-campus programs.

Students interested in the Social Sciences

  • pursue a disciplinary major in Peace and Global Studies (PAGS) with a focus in Environmental Studies.
  • become familiar with environmental perspectives in the Natural Sciences and Humanities, and
  • participate in environmental internships and/or off-campus programs.
