Tom Stoppard's brilliantly funny satire follows two minor characters from Shakespeare's Hamlet. It presents the classic drama from their confused and ill-informed perspective, traveling though the entire chaotic plotline, landing our heroes ultimately at death's door. Acclaimed by The
New Yorker as "the most exciting, witty intellectual treat imaginable," Rosencrantz
and Guildenstern Are Dead is a comedy for Shakespeareans and existentialists alike.

Javanese Gamelan Ensemble Concert
Friday, April 18, 7:30 p.m.
Goddard Auditorium, Carpenter Hall
Gamelans are sometimes described as percussion orchestras,
but they often include a couple of stringed instruments, a bamboo
flute, and singers as well. They are different from orchestras in that
the word gamelan refers to the instruments themselves, not the people
who play them. The instruments, consisting primarily of tuned gongs and
metalophones of various dimensions, form a single set rather than belonging
to the individual musicians. Earlham's gamelan is of the type found in
the royal courts of central Java, made of bronze and elaborately carved
wooden supports.
Free admission, no tickets required.
For more information, call 765/983-1410.
