Genesis Benefit Concert

Presenter: Women's Chorus and Others

Join the Women's Chorus for a night of music and fun at the annual Genesis Benefit Concert. Enjoy a variety of Earlham's most talented performers taking the stage to support the work of Genesis of the YWCA, a domestic violence and sexual assault program serving Wayne and surrounding counties. Net proceeds from this event benefit Genesis Women's Center of Richmond. Sponsored by the Music Department.

"Classical Music in the Digital Age"

The Ahn Trio

Performing: The Ahn Trio, classical revolutionaries, born in Korea and graduates of The Juilliard School; Paul Miller/a.k.a. "DJ Spooky That Subliminal Kid;" and the Earlham Orchestra

This concert features original compositions by Kenji Bunch, composer, violist, fiddler, vocalist, professor and teacher, and Illyaraja, Indian film composer, singer and lyricist. A truly diverse group of outstanding world renowned and award-winning musicians creates a musical dialogue that crosses boundaries between classical/electronic/hip-hop music, composition and visual arts. This concert explores our contemporary culture and its reflective art in a more digital age. Wellness Fair


Supporting Earlham's wellness model of "Mind, Body, Spirit and Community," exhibitors from Richmond and Wayne County businesses offer services, including screenings for osteoporosis, blood pressure, glucose and cholesterol. Experts provide information in health and wellness including diabetes, dentistry, chiropractic care, alternative therapies and podiatry as well as relaxing chair massages. Participants can register for door prizes; massages, reflexology sessions, T-shirts, climbing wall passes and day passes to the Athletics and Wellness Center.

"A Tale of Two Seekers: Or How the Daughter of a
Southern Baptist Minister Became a Quaker,
Met the Rabbi and Their Adventure from There"

Some interfaith dialogues are very formal. Mays and Rabbi Prager's story is anything but! These two spiritual seekers found each other at pivotal times in their lives and embarked on a 12-year quest to learn the heart of each other's religious life. They have shared each other's practice, taught in each other's classrooms, and logged thousands of miles traveling to Quaker, Jewish, liberal Christian and even fundamentalist Evangelical events. Sponsored by Newlin Center for Quaker Thought and Practice, and Campus Ministries.

"An Evening of Song, Story, Meditation and Prayer"

Rabbi Marcia Prager, Director and Dean of Ordination Programs, Alliance for Jewish Renewal, author of The Path of Blessing; and
Cantor Jack Kessler, Director of Atzicut — Concerts for Peace, a duet format of Arab and Jewish musicians, and Klingon Klezmer

Under Prager and Kessler's able leadership, this music-filled service blends the ancient words of Hebrew sacred prayer with the new words and melodies that modern journeys have taught us. Refreshments and conversation follow the service. All faiths and backgrounds are warmly invited to attend. Sponsored by Campus Ministries and Newlin Center for Quaker Thought and Practice.

Stout Meetinghouse Concert featuring
"Music of Guitar, Flute and Voice"

Sunday, March 30, 4:00 p.m.
Stout Meetinghouse

Presenters: Richard Goering, guitar;
Sandy Seefeld, flutist; and Naomi Lewin, soprano

Goering plays extensively in the Cincinnati area. Seefeld is formerly professor of flute at Miami University and has played at the Meetinghouse before. Lewin is a popular on air performer at WGUC; among other programs she presents "Classics for Kids." The concert will include four songs by Dowland, a well known composer of the 16th century, and three Spanish songs performed by Lewin and Goering. All three perform Sephardic songs and Goering plays a Bach sonata. Sponsored by the Meetinghouse Endowed Concert Series Fund.
