Founded in 1847
by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), Earlham
College is an independent, four-year, coeducational, residential
institution of higher learning. 
Among the nation's
academically strongest liberal arts colleges, Earlham develops
in its students broad and deep competencies in both traditional
and emerging disciplinary and interdisciplinary fields.
Moreover, the College educates students to
live and work effectively together with others; to value
lifelong learning; to appreciate cultural, ethnic and religious
