The Heart
is the symbolic center of Earlham’s campus. |
In warm weather,
students seek out this grassy area for recreation, studying,
talking with a faculty member and just enjoying the natural
setting. Traditionally,
students have gathered here in times of national or international
trouble or uncertainty, joined hands and taken part in a
silent vigil.
Eighty-seven percent of Earlham students
(excluding those on off-campus studies) live on campus in
a variety of settings. The College offers seven residence
hall choices as well as 32 theme and friendship houses.
Along with athletics competitions, art exhibitions,
Student Activities Board events, and music and theatre performances,
the College sponsors an annual Artist and Lecture Series,
a Convocation Series, and many informative lectures. Earlham
students choose among more than 60 activities and organizations. |
Dedicated in October 2007, Darrell
Beane Stadium surrounds the reconditioned M.O. Ross Field and competition track. The complex includes new 1,600-seat grandstands, press box and scoreboard, along with locker and training rooms, concession areas and restrooms, and entrance and gathering plazas.
Mills
Hall opened in 2006. This 56,000-square-foot
residence hall features suites of two
to four sleeping rooms and accommodates
132 students. Each floor offers music
practice spaces, lounges, kitchens, lounges,
laundry rooms and community spaces. Students
enjoy wireless accessibility to the campus
network and printing capability throughout
the hall.
Olvey-Andis
Hall was renovated in 2007. The hall
is air conditioned and has three floors
with a variety of room configurations;
singles, doubles and triples. Olvey-Andis
Hall is co-ed by room and occupancy is
open to all students. Live-in student
staff members serve as a resource for
residents and plan activities to support
the living environment.
Barrett
Hall is being renovated and will reopen in 2008. The interior of the
hall, structurally a mirror image of
Olvey-Andis Hall, is being totally rebuilt
and modernized.
