The Arts (at least 4 semester hours in one or more designated courses)

• Centers on knowing through aesthetic values and judgments.

• Emphasizes both expressive activity and the interpretation of that activity from theoretic and historical perspectives.

• First-hand engagement in creative artistic endeavors.

• Opportunities to reflect upon the creative process and its products using theory and history.

• Instruction features faculty of the Fine Arts Division along with those from other disciplines.

Coursework fulfilling this requirement must include both hands-on, applied experiences and cognitive reflection through theory and history.
