
Perspectives on Diversity (a minimum of 6
semester hours)
• Includes three areas: Domestic Diversity,
International Diversity and Second Language Requirements.
• Develops oral and written proficiencies
in a second language.
• Prepares students to be effective citizens
in a pluralistic global setting.
• Enhances a student’s capacity to
reflect upon his/her identity and place within a diverse society.
• Develops awareness of ethnocentric assumptions
and beliefs.
• Builds competencies for acting respectfully
and effectively in diverse contexts.
Note: The first two courses in
a specific language may not be used to satisfy any other General
Education requirement, but any language course taken beyond the
two introductory-level courses may, if appropriately designated,
satisfy other General Education requirements.
