Assistant Director of Annual Giving — Institutional Advancement

Earlham College is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Director of Annual Giving in the Institutional Advancement Office. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative faculty appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience, and includes a full benefit package.

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving assists with the planning and implementation of selected annual giving strategies, coordinates and oversees the annual fund mailings and Phonathon for the College, and cultivates a philanthropic spirit among current students.

Earlham College will enter its most ambitious fundraising campaign in July 2017, and annual giving administrators will be key in the College’s ability to attain the campaign goal.

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving reports to the Senior Director of Annual Giving and works closely with members of the Institutional Advancement Office staff.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assists with managing the annual giving operations for the College by coordinating the direct mail solicitation process.
  • Coordinates the Phonathon efforts through oversight of calling, hiring and training student employees, managing calling segments, and writing calling scripts.
  • Assists with planning and implementing on-campus programming and opportunities that bring philanthropy into students’ lives while at Earlham, including Earlham Day and All Class Gift programs.
  • Provides stewardship to annual and endowed scholarship donors, as well as first-time donors to the College.
  • Assists with the statistical collection, evaluation and record keeping for annual giving efforts.
  • Responds to correspondence as it relates to the Earlham Fund and other annual giving efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Annual Giving and the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

Experience & Qualifications

The Assistant Director of Annual Giving will possess strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, and planning skills and work effectively with volunteers and students.

Candidates for this position should have some experience in direct mail and phonathon fundraising, alumni relations, volunteer coordination, admissions, sales, marketing or some combination thereof. A bachelor’s degree is required.
