Transportation in and out of Richmond

The International Programs Office provides transportation to and from campus only at the beginning of the year for those students attending the cross-cultural orientation.  The Office of Student Development plans shuttle buses to and from the Dayton airport at scheduled break times.  It is the student’s responsibility to make the necessary arrangements for travel to and from campus at all other times. 

The following is a list of public transportation in and around Richmond:

Rental Cars

You typically must be twenty-one years of age and have a valid U.S. or international driver’s license and credit card to rent a car.  Companies charge by the day and the mile.  Some companies offer unlimited mileage.  Be sure to ask about the charges and any special packages.

Bus

This is the local bus system.  Buses stop at the front entrance to campus and at the circle behind Runyan Center.  Bus fares are $1.25 for students.  Bus routes include the downtown and mall areas and various routes throughout the city. See the Rose View Transit System webpage for more details.

Train

The closest passenger train stations are in Connersville, Indiana (about a 40-minute drive) and Indianapolis, Indiana, (about an hour away).  The station in Connersville is closer, but is not staffed– you must purchase your tickets by mail first.  The trains are generally clean, fast, and comfortable.

Air Travel

The airport located in Dayton, Ohio is closest to campus and is the only airport for which transportation will be provided for orientation.  There are also international airports located in Cincinnati, Ohio and Indianapolis, Indiana.
