The International Festival

Cultural DisplayInternational Festival is held at Earlham every year in the Spring. It is organized by a committee consisiting of Earlham students and faculty. The goal of the festival is to recognize and develop the cultural diversity that exists at Earlham College. International students are given a forum in which they can share their unique heritage with the rest of the Earlham community

Indonesian DanceOne week during the Spring, Earlham is transformed into a mirror of the world, with various cultures being represented on all parts of campus from the Heart, the center of campus, to Saga, the cafeteria. Students set up booths with information about their countries and sometimes provide activities or food for people to get a better sense of the true culture. Past festivals have included performances in Goddard Theater of singing, dancing, and storytelling. Fashion shows are also popular as dress varies a great deal by region.

The International Festival is a time when the Earlham community can reflect on its truly international diversity. All students come away with a better understanding of the global nature of Earlham and how it impacts their lives as students of the world.
