Middle East Semester in Jordan

Program Description

A map of Jordan. This innovative program introduces undergraduates to the diversity, commonalities and trends that shape the modern Middle East. Through a focus on civil society, contemporary religion, culture and political economy, participants will grapple with the complexities of this crucial region as it moves forward. Based in the vibrant world city of Amman, and drawing on its centrality to regional politics, social trends, business and security, this program introduces students to the area through home-stays, internships, trips, dialogue, speakers and traditional course-work.  Jordan provides the environment within which to study how traditional Arab/Muslim cultural elements interact with the forces of globalization to construct an evolving identity.
