Trip to Mexico City 

The entry-way into the "blue house." On Sept. 20 and 21 our group had an excursion to Frida and Diego lived in this house from 1929-1954.Mexico City, which is about one and half hours from Cuautla. Our first visit was to the Frida Kahlo Museum in the suburb of Coyoacan.  This is the house where Frida was born, was raised, and later lived with her husband, muralist Diego Rivera.  Frida died in 1954 at the age of 47.

After settling in at our hotel in the historic center of Mexico City, we walked to the main square or the zocalo and entered the National Palace to seeStudents admiring the murals in the palacio nacional. the murals of Diego Rivera.  We were all fascinated with these historical murals depicting pre-Conquest indigenous culture, the Conquest by the Spaniards beginning in 1519, and the history of Mexico through the 1940s.

The next day we visited the huge archaeological site of Teotihuacán. Some of the largest pyramid Pyrimid of the Sun. structures from pre-Columbian Americas are located there, including the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon.  It is also known for its large residential complexes and colorful well-preserved murals.

Seedy in front of a statue and the Palace of Fine Arts.Our last stop was at the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City where we saw murals by Diego Rivera, David Siquieros, Jose Clemente Orozco, and Rufino Tamayo.
