Living Arrangements

Students begin the program with an orientation program at the Casa de los Amigos in Mexico City. Founded in 1956, the Casa de los Amigos is a Quaker center of hospitality, volunteerism and cross-cultural dialogue in the heart of Latin America's largest city. Students then move to Cuautla and participate in an orientation to the area. Students live with and take meals with Mexican families. Living with host families is an important part of the program which enhances the language acquisition process and reinforces the cultural immersion experience.

Travel

Students will be responsible for making their own travel plans both to and from the program. There are many opportunities to travel in Mexico, both with the group and independently. Students visit Mexico City, Cuernavaca, Puebla, Tepotzlan, and small towns near Cuautla. In addition, students may travel to other cities in Mexico such as Oaxaca, Morelia, Guanajuato, Veracruz, or Taxco.
