Earlham Miscellany Listserv — Earlham Miscel
(formerly Earlham Topics)
Mission
The Earlham Miscellany Listserv provides faculty
and staff a forum for free-wheeling discussion and a vehicle for
sharing personal messages with members of the Earlham community.
To clarify the institution’s legal position
concerning the content of messages on the Earlham Miscellany Listserv,
messages
are accompanied by a disclaimer statement:
“Earlham welcomes all who come to seek for truth in a diverse community
that accords respect to every individual. Each is asked to contribute
to the understanding of all. The ideas and opinions expressed on
this listserv are those of the individuals involved and not necessarily
those of Earlham.”
Content
Messages appropriate to the Earlham Miscellany
Listserv include:
- Off-campus events
- Issues of international, national, state and local interest
- Requests for advice about Richmond resources and responses
- Articles or Web sites of interest not related to EC
business
- Personal views (politics, religion, etc.)
- Items of Interest — Personal items and services needed
or offered for sale, lost and found, rides needed or offered,
etc.
Distribution
All faculty and staff members are subscribed to
the Earlham Miscellany Listserv at the beginning of the year in
an effort to encourage its used. Faculty and staff may unsubscribe,
following instructions available in WebDb.
Submissions
Anyone participating in the Earlham Miscellany
Listserv can post a message. There is no moderator. Discussions
may be planned in advance or occur spontaneously.
Note: Sending a message to all three listservs
does not improve the message's reach; it only causes needless
duplication. Because faculty and staff may unsubscribe to the Earlham
Miscel Listserv, it is best to send messages intended for all faculty
to the Faculty Listserv and those intended for all staff
to the Staff Listserv.
