About ITAM
Instructional Technology and Media provides a
wide variety of services and support for both the curricular
and co-curricular sides of the college. Created in 2002 by adding
an Academic Computing Specialist to the services of the Media
Resources Center, our goal is to provide a high level of support
in materials, technologies and skills for the teaching and learning
process. ITAM combines traditional media collections and media
services with the skills of our instructional technologists
to help students and faculty in their academic endeavors. We
also provide media support (sound systems, videotaping, etc.)
for events campus-wide.
Audio and video collections are listed in the
online
catalog and are available for checkout, classroom use and
can be placed on reserve. There is also an extensive art slide
collection available. We maintain a variety of equipment (ranging
from slide projectors and cassette recorders to video cameras
to small sound systems) which is available for short term loan
to supplement equipment available in the academic buildings.
ITAM also has a number of PC and Mac Laptops for short-term
loan.
ITAM supports the equipment in the academic
buildings on campus ranging from Overhead Projector and TV/VCRs
on carts
to installed multimedia and videoconferencing systems. The
ITAM lab in the basement of Lilly Library has 8 individual
carrels
for listening to audio materials, viewing videos, and includes
a 10 position language lab. Some VCR's and DVD players are
equipped
to handle video materials from around the world. The Media
Arts Lab is also housed in the ITAM area. This is a 10 computer
station lab (intel based iMacs) for the development and production
of media materials with variety of video, audio,
and
graphic production software.
Throughout the year we offer support to help
members of the community develop their skills in applying a
variety of technologies to the teaching and learning process
through workshops and individual consultations.
