The Plowshares Media Arts Lab

The Media Arts Lab is located on the lower level of Lilly Library in ITAM. It consists of 10 iMac computer, each able to handle several media needs. These computers are to be used to do media related work, no word processing software exists on these machines. Students, Faculty, and Staff can use these machines to edit videos, edit audio projects, create photo projects, scan photos or slides, as well as create web pages. The lab has two printers available, a standard laser printer, as well as a large project plotter.

How Do I Use the PMAL?

The PMAL is available for use by appointment only. Appointments can be made in advance or on the spot. Appointments are made at the main ITAM checkout counter. Patrons will be asked for their name, extension, the type of computer they would like to work on, if a specific computer is required, and what they will be doing.

The Plowshares Media Arts Lab is open during ITAM hours:

Monday thru Thursday	8 am to 11pm
Friday	8 am to 5 pm
Saturday	1 pm to 5 pm
Sunday	1 pm to 11pm

What if I need help using the PMAL?

While scheduling an appointment to use the PMAL you can also ask to set up an appointment with an ITAM worker who specializes in the area you'll need help with. There is also a good chance that ITAM workers will be around the area to help you with any questions you may have. It is recommended, however, if you know you'll need a good amount of help with your project that you schedule an appointment ahead of time.

Printing

There are two networked printers accessible from the Lab, which are located in the locked printer room:

• An HP Laserjet 4600 which is set to print duplex and black&white.
  It can also print in color — see printer configuration for details.
• An HP Designjet 2000PS which is a large format inkjet printer capable of printing 22" wide and unlimited length.

Printing can be done from any of the PMAL computers.
Currently printed material can only be retrieved during ITAM office hours:

Monday thru Friday : 9am till 12 pm and 1pm till 5 pm
