Associate Director for Alumni Connections — Institutional Advancement

Earlham College is accepting applications for the position of Associate Director of Alumni Connections in the Institutional Advancement Office. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative appointment. Salary is commensurate with experience, and includes a full benefit package.

The Associate Director of Alumni Connections is responsible for proactively recruiting and managing all internship opportunities provided by the College’s donors. This position serves as the liaison between the Institutional Advancement Office and Center for Career and Community Engagement.

Earlham College will enter its most ambitious fundraising campaign in July 2017, and institutional advancement administrators will be key in the College’s ability to attain the campaign goal.

The Associate Director of Alumni Connections reports to the Associate Vice President of Institutional Advancement, and works closely with the Director of Alumni Relations, Major Gift Officers, the Director of Career Education, and other staff in the Institutional Advancement Office and the Center for Career and Community Engagement.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Connect internship prospects with the College through engagement opportunities with the Institutional Advancement Office and Center for Career and Community Engagement.
  • Proactively work with the College’s prospect pool and major gift officers and the Center for Career and Community Engagement to identify and recruit potential internship relationships.
  • Assist and manage internship fundraising initiatives.
  • Serve as the liaison between the donor, internship site and the Center for Career and Community Engagement.
  • Oversee all stewardship and outreach for endowed, restricted or spend down funds that support internships and serve on the Internship Oversight Committee.
  • Recruit and steward alumni and friends of the College for the EPIC Advisory Board.
  • Assist the Center for Career and Community Engagement with identification of potential alumni volunteers.
  • Work with Alumni Relations on the planning, coordination and staffing of career education events and programs that involve alumni and engagement with students (e.g. alumni mentors, mock interviews, resume reviews, Alumni Connections Social, etc.) on and off campus.
  • Work with other Institutional Advancement to plan regional young alumni events that provide opportunities for networking and career planning.
  • Oversee outreach, engagement and tracking of graduates of the last decade for purposes of assessment and marketing.
  • Create and manage career-focused alumni networking outreach through website content, social media and webinars; market career services available to alumni.
  • Coordinate alumni visits to campus for academic department engagement or career education related events.
  • Assist Alumni Relations in staffing committees of the Alumni Council and other volunteer engagements as needed.
  • Some travel as well as evening and weekend responsibilities are expected.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Requirements include a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years of professional experience, or combination of education and work experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in volunteer management and career services.
  • Skill in a range of technology platforms is key.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team, excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using Banner are preferred.
