Earlham College invites applications for two full-time, tenure-track positions for Assistant Professor of History beginning Fall 2010.

Position #1 teaches one of a range of possible subfields, including (but not limited to) European history prior to 1800, Mediterranean (including North Africa, Near East and West Asia), medieval, early modern and thematic history.

Position #2 teaches European history since 1800, with a secondary field in Jewish history. Fields of interest include (but are not limited to) gender, postcolonial studies, theory, or other fields that will contribute to Earlham's interdisciplinary programs.

Responsibilities

Teaching first-year intensive writing courses, regular departmental offerings and courses in fields of specialization.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in history preferred by time of appointment. ABD accepted. Teaching excellence, research and professional activity expected.
