Faculty Search Advertising
How It Works
Earlham is participating in The Chronicle
of Higher Education's
contracted advertising plan. By agreeing to place a specified number
of display ads during a calendar year, Earlham receives a discount
on advertising space and can post an Employer Profile at the Chronicle's
Web site. This profile lessens the need to repeat general college
information within individual department's position advertisements
and enables us to provide links to Earlham's Web site for
even more information.
A candidate who is using the Chronicle's
online Career Network can link from the position announcement
to the Employer Profile
and on to the College Web site. Each announcement is posted on
the Web
for 30 days, and we receive a report of visits to the site at the
conclusion of the posting. For example, within a few days of the
conclusion of our advertising, we know that our ad for a Science
Librarian was viewed 264 times. The print edition of Career Network
features a checkmark icon by ads of participating schools and a
list of the schools on the inside back cover.
To reach our contracted number of ads per
year, we need all ads to be processed through the Public Affairs
Office. Only ads
coming
through Public Affairs may be counted toward our contract. Earlham's
typical display ads measure one column wide by 3 or 4 inches high.

a few sample ads from last year to illustrate how the ads
look. Each ad contains about 50 words of text, including
contact information.
