First Floor Features

  • exterior architectural features which accentuate the Quaker aspects of Earlham’s campus
  • welcoming porches on the north and south elevations
  • 20-station microcomputer teaching laboratory
  • 140-seat technology friendly lecture hall
  • 60-seat lounge/refreshment area with a catering kitchen
  • an open reception area easily accessible from the Heart and other campus buildings

Second Floor Features

  • flexible spaces to enable the evolution of new ideas and approaches to the curriculum
  • adaptable teaching areas, designed to sup-port Earlham’s unique circular seating style
  • faculty/staff lounge next to the Social Science Division Office
  • classrooms and offices with full data connections

Third Floor Features

  • spaces for students and faculty involved with Psychology, Sociology/Anthropology and Education programs are gathered together, thus encouraging a focus on Human Development and Social Relations
  • specially designed psychology laboratory providing data connections and a central space for group studies as well as small, isolated booths for simultaneous study of several participants
  • ethnographic research spaces supporting the scholarly activities of Sociology/Anthropology students and faculty
