Mayberry M. Lacey Collection. SC 192.

Mayberry M. Lacey (1835-1922) was a merchant of Fountain City, Ind. The collection consists of an autobiographical letter, written in 1903, with accounts of the Lacey genealogy and Lacey's experiences as a Union soldier in the Civil War. Gift of Floyd Webb, 1998.

Sanford Lackey Account Book. SC 236.

Sanford Lackey (1809-1887) was a merchant in Cambridge City, Ind. This account book lists his customers and transactions 1839-1841. Photocopy, gift of Thomas and Peg Mayhill, 2003.

James Ladd Collection. SC 173.

James Ladd (ca. 1740-1806) was a Quaker minister of Henrico Monthly Meeting residing in Charles City County, Virginia. The collection consists of diaries, 1776-1798, of his travels as a minister among Friends in Virginia and Pennsylvania, with reflections on slavery and Quaker affairs. Ladd Family Papers. 1809-1841. FMS 31.

The Ladd Family Papers consist of letters of the family of Benjamin W. Ladd (1782-1851), a leading Gurneyite Friend who was born in Virginia but spent most of his life in Jefferson County, Ohio. Correspondence includes references to slavery, family life, and controversies within the Society of Friends. Inventory.

Samuel Lamb Letters. SC 179.

Samuel Lamb (1835-1908) was a native of Randolph County, North Carolina, who spent most of his life in Wayne, Henry, and Delaware counties, Ind. The collection consists of typescripts of ten letters, 1857-1860, from Samuel Lamb and his grandparents, Thomas and Massy (Adamson) Lamb, to Delilah and Frances Vickrey of Jamestown, North Carolina, with comments on crops, schools, relatives, and life in Indiana. A few letters and flyers, along with a record of the family of Francis and Elizabeth (Martin) Wilkins of Athens County, Ohio, relating to the writing and publication of John Levering's Levering Family History and Genealogy (1897). Found in copy of the book purchased in 1998.

Harlow Lindley (1874-1959) was a longtime member of the Earlham College faculty and nationally renowned historian of Quakerism and the Old Northwest. The Lindley Collection consists of correspondence, clippings, research materials, and documents reflecting Lindley's interests, especially in the history of Quakerism. Finding aid.

Jessup-Carson-Littler Family Papers. 1831-1972. FMS 35.

This small collection consists of correspondence, legal papers, notebooks, autograph books, and genealogical material of Quaker families in Howard and Marion counties, Ind. Of special interest is a detailed notebook kept by Esther Littler while attending the Friends World Conference in Oxford, England in 1952. Finding aid.
