This collection consists of transcripts of oral history interviews done in 1982 with longtime members of Extension Homemakers Clubs across the US. The interviews document numerous facets of American women's lives in the twentieth century. Finding aid.

National Friends Insurance Trust Case Papers. 1994-2001. FRG 31.

National Friends Insurance Trust (NFIT) was formed in 1972 to provide health insurance for employees of Quaker organizations. In 1995, it was revealed that its proprietors has defrauded its customers, leading to extensive litigation. These files concern both criminal and civil proceedings. Access restricted.

Micah and Mary Newby Papers. SC 64.

Micah Newby (1790-1853) and his second wife, Mary Dicks Coffin Newby (1792-1882), were Friends of Blue River Monthly Meeting in Washington County, Ind., and Raysville Meeting in Henry County, Ind. These papers consist of nine letters, 1822-1853, from Mary Newby's father, Bethuel Coffin (1756-1839), and brother Elijah Coffin (1798-1862) in Guilford County, North Carolina, and Wayne and Henry counties in Indiana. This collection consists of two account books of Allen W. Newsom (1842- ), owner of a general store in Carthage, Indiana, 1878-1879. Gift of Kenneth Goodwell Heirs, 2001.

Elizabeth Nicholson Collection. SC 120.

Elizabeth Nicholson (1833-1926) was a Hicksite Friend, artist, and clubwoman who spent most of her life in Indianapolis. The collection consists of an obituary and photograph.

S. Edgar Nicholson Papers. 1905-1928. SC 7.

Samuel Edgar Nicholson (1862-1934), Earlham 1885, was a Friends minister, temperance advocate, member of the Indiana state legislature (1893-1917), editor of the American Friend (1913-1917), and for 30 years the secretary of the Anti-Saloon League. This folder consists of correspondence and an essay on the Five Years Meeting. Subjects include temperance work, Earlham College, the 1920 World Conference of Friends in London, and the elections of 1920 and 1928.

Timothy Nicholson Papers. 1876-1924. FMS 12.

Timothy Nicholson (1828-1924) was a prominent Richmond, Ind. Orthodox Friend, a clerk of Indiana Yearly Meeting, and for 49 years an Earlham College trustee. The Nicholson Papers are rich in correspondence for controversies among Quakers from 1870 to 1900, particularly over revivalism, the ordinances, and sanctification. Rudimentary finding aid.

Huff-Nixon Family Papers. 1760-1976. FMS 15.

The Huff-Nixon Papers consist of correspondence, legal and business papers, reminiscences, clippings, and genealogical materials of five generations of Quaker families in North Carolina and Indiana, especially those of Samuel Nixon (1781-1865), Daniel Huff (1816-1899), and Oliver N. Huff (1852-1937) of Fountain City, Ind. The papers are especially rich in material on Quakers and the anti-slavery movement. Finding aid.

Non-Registrant Fund Papers. 1949-1950. SC 228.

The Non-Registrant Fund helped defray the legal expenses of draft resisters in the Southern District of Indiana in 1949 and 1950. The papers include correspondence with attorneys and donors and lists of contributors.

North Carolina Manumission Society Minutes. 1816-1834. FRG 4.

The North Carolina Manumission Society was an organization consisting mostly of Quakers in Guilford, Randolph, and adjacent counties in North Carolina to advocate the gradual abolition of slavery. This collection consists of a typescript of the original minute book in the Friends Historical Collection at Guilford College. Gift of Laura Doan Hutton, 1967.

Northern Yearly Meeting Collection. 1961-. FRG 40.

Northern Yearly Meeting, affiliated with Friends General Conference, was formed in 1975 and includes meetings in Wisconsin and Minnesota. This collection includes newsletters, minutes, correspondence, and reports.
