This EBSCOHost version of MEDLINE provides advanced search features, such as limiting to Earlham's holdings or to specific types of literature (clinical trials, review articles, etc.). Links to online fulltext articles in PubMed Central and online fulltext articles from journal publishers. Not all online fulltext is free.

This U.S. government agency's mission is to research and monitor the earth's atmosphere with regard to air quality, ozone depletion, and global climate "forcing," climate change due to human activity. Background information is provided along with datasets.

WildFinder: mapping the world's species
Comprehensive database for mapping the geographic distribution of wildlife. A GIS system allows user to "search by place" and create species lists for ecoregions or specific locations -- or to "search by species"' to map the worldwide distribution of specific organisms.

Globalchange.gov
Provides data, research, news and publications addressing global change issues from eight different US agencies.

Global Change Master Directory

Encyclopedia of Earth
A reference about the Earth, its natural environments, and their interaction with society. Provides a free, fully searchable collection of articles written in non-technical language by scholars, professionals, educators, and experts who collaborate and review each other's work.

National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC)
Provides access to cryospheric research and data, "the snow, ice, glacier, frozen ground, and climate interactions that make up Earth's cryosphere."

The Right-to-Know Network (RTK NET)
Provides free access to numerous databases and resources on the environment, including several government databases. Users can identify specific factories and their environmental effects, find permits issued under environmental statutes, and identify civil cases filed.

Energy Information Administration
Obtain official energy statistics from the U.S. government, as well as information on historical, current, and future predictions and trends relevant to energy.

TOXMAP: Environmental Health E-maps

Provides free global environmental news and information, including World Environment News (a daily headline service with searchable archive and links to full text articles) and Environment News Pictures (a photograph gallery of recent environmental events).

Earth Trends
An online collection of information regarding the environmental, social, and economic trends that shape our world. Collects and presents a large breadth of statistical, graphic, and analytical data in easily accessible formats. Free, but users must register after viewing three pieces of content.

National Geographic Green Guide
Diverse collection of information on "going green." Links to tips, articles, buying guides, blogs...

ToxSeek
Provides data on toxic substances and environmental health information from the National Library of Medicine. Allows users to search a combination of 47 databases, with information from U.S. and international sources, including the NIH, the World Health Organzation, and PubMed.

Climate Change (U.S. EPA)
Offers the most current and accurate information about climate change issues. Includes sections on science, greenhouse gas emissions, health and environmental effects, U.S. climate policy, what you can do, and other resources.

Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC)
The primary data and information center of the US Department of Energy, CDIAC focuses on global climate change, specifically pertaining to atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide and other similar acting gases and the emissions and effects of carbon dioxide and greenhouse gases worldwide.
