The following materials MAY NOT be checked out from either Lilly or Wildman Libraries:
The following items are among those that MAY be checked out:
NOTE: if any of the above materials do not have a barcode, bring them to the circulation desk and alert staff of this before checking out items. Circulation staff will need a few minutes to barcode these items and prepare them for checkout.
Materials on reserve at either library have varied circulation periods, from 1 hour to 7 days, depending on the restrictions placed upon them by faculty and library staff. You will be informed of the loan period by circulation staff at checkout.
For more information on reserve policies and overdue fines on reserve materials, go to the page for reserve materials.
Laptop computers and accessories (power cords, PC adapters, and computer cases) are only available at Lilly Library. All items circulate for 4 hours, and MAY NOT leave the library. Each item must be checked out separately at the circulation desk, and patrons must leave their campus ID at the circulation desk until the items are returned. These items must be returned directly to a student worker at the circulation desk. In order to check out laptops and accessories, users must sign a Lilly Library Laptop Computer Agreement. This form provides a detailed outline of the policies regarding laptop use and may be printed from the link above or picked up at the Lilly Library circulation desk.
Overdue fines are $.25 per day per book. The maximum overdue fine is $30.00 per book. Fines for Reserves accrue at a rate of $1.00 per hour per item. Fines for ITAM materials are listed on the ITAM Circulation page. Fines for laptops and related materials are listed below.
After an item has been overdue for three weeks, a lost book fee of $60.00 (minimum charge) will be automatically assessed. This fee includes a $20.00 processing fee and $40.00 for the replacement cost of the book*.
Every month outstanding fines are sent to the Accounting Office and billed to student accounts. These fines are then marked as paid in patron records in the library computer system. Therefore, if you receive a notice stating that you have library fines, your patron account MAY NOT indicate that you have a library fine. Questions about such fines should be directed to the appropriate Circulation Supervisor.
Once fines have been sent to the Accounting Office, you must return books directly to a circulation supervisor within six months of the time the account was billed in order to have the lost book fee removed from your student account. Any overdue fines associated with the materials will remain charged to your student account.
* The replacement fee for a lost book is a $40.00 minimum charge. If the book costs more than $40.00, the difference will be billed to the patron account. If the book is returned to the library, the $40.00 replacement fee will be removed from the account. If the library has not yet ordered a replacement copy of the book, the $20.00 processing fee will also be removed from the account at that time. Any overdue charges that have accrued (up to $30.00) will remain charged to the account. In order to make sure that all fines are properly removed, lost books should always be returned directly to a circulation supervisor.
