At the beginning of the 2001/2001 academic year, President Doug Bennett issued a call for the creation of a Strategic Planning Committee. The charge for the committee was approved by the faculty on August 29, 2001. planning is an effort to understand an institution's most important purposes
(its mission). And with clarity about those purposes, it is an effort
to envision both desirable futures and routes toward them.
"The mission of Earlham College, an independent, residential college, is to provide the highest quality undergraduate education in the liberal arts, including the sciences, shaped by the distinctive perspectives of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)." We aim to provide a transformative experience for young women and men. The central question for strategic planning is how we can serve this purpose better. Charge to the committee:
