Present: Doug Bennett, Bob Southard, Margaret Hampton, Monteze Snyder, Rick Foreman, Sara Penhale, Paul Ogren, Kirsten Bohl

Strategic Plan
We discussed a first preliminary draft of the strategic plan. Next revision to follow on Monday.

Upcoming Campus Events

· Distribution of the draft plan. The draft plan will be included as an insert for the on-campus community in the August 30 edition of the Earlham Word.

· Campus-wide discussion of the draft plan. The opening convocation on September 4 will focus on the draft strategic plan. We will have a small panel of faculty/staff/student respondents. The convocation proper will begin at 12:00 p.m. and end by 1:00. Following the convo, we'll have small-group discussions in Carpenter classrooms from 1:00 till 2:20. Each committee member will be a convenor/notetaker for one of these discussions.

· Additional opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to discuss the draft plan.

  • FACULTY. We are scheduled to be on the Faculty Meeting agenda for September 11 and 25. We will ask the Faculty to approve the draft plan at the second meeting, in time for the preparation and mailing of advance materials for the October board meeting.
  • STAFF. Employee Council will have a special meeting for consultation and feedback on the draft strategic plan on Monday, September 9, from 8:30 till 10:00 a.m., location TBD.
  • STUDENTS. We will schedule open student meetings for consultation and feedback on the draft strategic plan on Thursday, September 5 at dinnertime in the Dining Hall, and on Sunday, September 8 in the late afternoon, probably in Runyan Center. Specific times and locations TBD.

Next Meeting
Next meeting will be Wednesday, August 21 at 3:00 p.m. Location TBD.
