In
a residential college, active learning takes place outside
the classroom.
By design, learning is a part of every niche of campus life,
including living and dining arrangements. These many points
of interaction with others — for friendship, for the
formation of values, for exercising communal and personal
responsibility, for learning to lead and to be led — provide
a rich environment for student growth. This is the hallmark
of a college that takes the educational values of its residential
life philosophy seriously. Residence Life is an integral
part of the educational mission of Earlham College.
