Los Angeles Times: "What the Bible Really Says About Gays"
In a special contribution to the Los Angeles Times, Michael McGough, Washington, DC-based editor-at-large for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, calls “illuminating” a recent project by Earlham student Justin Cannon ‘06 that “makes use of etymology and history to cast doubt on the prevailing anti-gay interpretations of several Bible verses” often used by Christian conservatives to argue that same-sex relationships of any kind are incompatible with Scripture. The seminary-bound Cannon has published his analysis in a pamphlet titled “The Bible, Christianity & Homosexuality,” as well as at the Web site www.truthsetsfree.net — both of which, McGough reports, have piqued the interest of clergy and lay people across the country.

Past President Bolling Lauded for Leadership
Praising his dedication to students around the world who have benefited from his “vision, incisive teaching, and first-hand involvement,” the international Council for Advancement and Support of Education bestowed its highest honor — the James L. Fisher Award for Distinguished Service to Education — on Earlham President Emeritus Landrum Bolling.
