Linguist Lakoff Reveals on Sept. 18 How '04 Democrats Were "Framed"
George Lakoff, University of California at Berkeley distinguished professor of linguistics and cognitive science, says that by seizing command of the language early in the 2004 U.S. presidential election GOP strategists cornered Democratic nominee John Kerry and his supporters in a contextual “frame” from which they were never able to escape, to their doom. Lakoff kicks off the College’s annual Artist and Lecture Series for the 2006-07 academic year at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18, in Goddard Auditorium on campus.
