Assistant Professor of Mathematics
I’ve had the opportunity to be the primary instructor for nine different undergraduate courses ranging from Elementary Statistics , College Algebra to Multivariable Calculus, Differential Equations and Matrix Theory. I was also a teaching assistant for the NSF Math in the Middle Program in which I worked with middle-school teachers from the state of Nebraska.
Pei Pei believes that mathematics is a gateway to success for students and her goal is to help them make the most of it. She appreciates both Earlham’s commitment and its approach to teaching. “Coming from a different cultural background I have firsthand experienced the difference between ‘one-way’ authoritative lecturing and active teacher student interaction in a classroom,” she explains. "I came to truly appreciate the importance of questioning and discovering the topic for oneself rather than merely following the lead. Thus I strive to help my students to develop their ability to think critically and independently.”
