The summer 2007 issue of the Earlhamite won a Merit Award in the External Publication category of the Admissions Advertising Awards.
RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham College
has been named a Merit Winner in three categories in the 23rd Annual Admissions
Advertising Awards sponsored by the Admissions Marketing
Report, one of
the nation's leading marketing publications
for higher education.
Earlham's Virtual
Tour, the "Athletics @ Earlham" brochure
and the Summer 2007 issue of the Earlhamite magazine all received
Merit Awards in their respective categories.
"I submitted this issue because I felt it was it was
particularly successful, in terms of both writing and visual
elements," says
Jonathan Graham, Earlhamite Editor. "The International Effect" was
the theme of the summer 2007 issue, which included several feature
articles by alumni. The Earlhamite is designed by Commercial Artisan in
Indianapolis.
"The subject matter allowed me to use some terrific
photographs taken during various international programs," Graham
says. "The
variety of perspectives included in the magazine was a real strength."
Earlham's Graphic Designer Julia Jensen created
the brochure, which is aimed at prospective Earlham students
who are interested in athletics. The colorful 10-page brochure
features photos and short profiles about athletes who play varsity
sports at Earlham.
"We thought personal testimonies would be far more
interesting than a laundry list of our sports," says Jensen, who
also won Silver and Gold Awards for publications during the 2006-2007
contest.
Earlham's Virtual Tour was created by 361 Studios
in Columbus, Ohio, and won the Merit Award in the New Media category.
The online tour is highly interactive and uses advanced computer modeling,
graphics and streaming video to help prospective students visit the
campus from the comfort of their home. The tour combines abundant information
about campus culture with extensive details about facilities.
More than 2,000 entries were received for this year's
Admissions Advertising Awards, the largest educational advertising
awards competition in the country.
