Safety & Security

In the event of a safety alert on or near campus, Earlham's home page would provide information for students, faculty, staff, parents and others.

Earlham's Office of Campus Safety and Security serves the students, guests, staff and faculty of Earlham College, while educating them regarding personal and College safety issues.

Located in the Student Development wing of Earlham Hall, Campus Safety and Security is coordinated by a director who is responsible to the Dean for Student Development. Campus Safety and Security consists of five full-time officers, four to 10 part-time officers, one fleet manager/administrative assistant, and 20 student dispatchers, one student fleet attendant, and two student office assistants.

All officers are trained in patrol procedures, emergency response, investigation techniques, and other various skills. All officers are trained in first aid, CPR, and AED use. One full-time officer, one part-time officer, and the director have advanced first aid training.

The department consists of non-sworn officers who work closely with the Richmond Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and several part-time officers who have full police powers granted through neighboring police departments.

The Campus Safety and Security department officers patrol campus 24-hours-a-day, 365 days a year. The Security and Safety team works closely with maintenance, residence life, and student development to provide consistent service to the Earlham community.
