| Cheerleading Constitution:
Article 1– Name and Purpose
Section 1. The name of our organization is the Earlham College
Cheerleading Squad.
Section 2. The mission of our organization is to provide inspiration
and enthusiastic support of the basketball (winter) and football
(fall) teams through physical performance of cheers during matches,
verbal, written, and other types of expression.
Section 3. The reason for the existence of this organization is
to promote school spirit.
Section 4. Our long-term goals are (in addition to maintaining
school spirit) to get an experienced and qualified cheerleading
coach, gain varsity status, and go to competitions.
Article 2 – Membership
Section 1. The cheerleading squad is open to all interested Earlham
College students who are willing to have a positive attitude
and abide by the established rules of conduct pertaining to all
members of this organization.
Section 2. Holly Anthony, Jessica George, Elizabeth Guerette, Justine Kahler, Pippa Lindwright and Ann McShane are the current members of the squad.
Article 3 – Officers/ Leaders
Section 1. Pippa Lindwright: convenor.
Article 4 – Selection of Officers
Section 1. Consensus
Section 2. The criteria for selection are that the person(s)
interested in filling a leadership position must verbally express
interest and the group then reaches consensus whether or not
the individual should hold the position in question.
Article 5 – Meetings
Section 1. The cheerleaders meet twice a week (unless otherwise
specified). Mondays and Thursdays 4:15pm - 6:15pm in the Athletics
and Wellness Center.
Article 6 – Quorum
Section 1. Only one officer has to be present to make decisions.
Section 2. A quorum for election is required at the conclusion
of both cheerleading seasons (not in between). Specifically:
at the end of the last basketball game.
Article 7 – Amendments and By-Laws
Section 1. Amendments to the Constitution must be brought before
and approved by the convenors.
Section 2. New by-laws are formulated by the convenors and the
current squad and enforced the following season.
Article 8 – Faculty Advisor
Section 1. Our faculty advisor is Susan Wise.
