Making Money on the WebWeb Advertisements |
|
Different kinds of ad spendingThere are two kinds of ad spending on the web: the first is the dot-com spend. This ad spend really hurt the stock market. When everyone was into dot-coms, companies would spend big money on web advertising. The problem was any company that bought these advertisements lost their money. The second kind of ad spending is non-dot-com advertising. Non-dot-com advertising is just getting started, but not much money is being put into it. Most companies do not adertise on the web because they believe it is not worth the money or the risk. Why web advertising does not workAdvertising on the web does not work because of the drastic differences among websites. It would be hard for a company to determine what sites to advertise on when less than 1% of websites can produce enough revenues from advertising. The internet did not become popular from advertising. One reason web advertising is still going is because advertising is one way websites can generate a direct revenue. This method, however, will not work for long because of link commissions paid by Amazon.com. Amazon.com is an alternative revenue for people directed to their site by other sites. Can web advertising turn its fortune around? The web can be saved accourding to David Moore. David Moore is the chief executive of 24/7 media, which sells online advertising. He believes that web advertising is not dead. Moore says, " We've done studies that prove the effectiveness of banners in terms of creating product recall, purchase intent, and behavior changes in individuals that have seen them." This man obviously believes that web advertising can be saved but I disagree. The problem was never the way that the advertisements looked. The problem is that people are individuals and, therefore, have many different interests in various subjects. References |
