Season Awards for 2009 Announced

RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham College track Head Coach Nick Johnson announced the team awards for the men’s squad on Tuesday.
Junior Chris Shaw (Anderson, IN/Pendleton Heights) was selected as the Most Outstanding Performer for the second year in a row.
Senior James Haley (Bloomington, IN/South) was named the Most Improved Performer, while first-year L.V. Plummer (Eads, TN/Christian Brothers) was selected as the Most Outstanding First-year.
Shaw picked up one of the major awards during the North Coast Athletic Conference Outdoor Track Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University this month. He was named the Most Valuable Performer for Field Events.
Shaw won the NCAC discus championship for the third straight year with a winning toss of 159'0", which is a NCAA provisional qualifying mark. He was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 47’7”. He was also seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 123’4”.
